Michelle May All tracks are my favorite on this album, since I feel it's best to listen to as a whole. I really appreciate how it seems like more artists lately are open to sharing the process of how they create their music. Mobley did so fantastic at that with worktape.

about

As an artist, you put immeasurable work into the realization of ideas and into presenting those ideas as completely and capably as you can. It’s exciting to labor over something, refine it, and then see it reach people in the ways you hoped it would. It’s my favourite part of my job.

For this project, though, I wanted to pull back the curtain and share more about all the steps that come before publishing and performing the music for audiences. I wanted to fight against my reflex to make you something “perfect” and instead share something that’s decidedly not that. I feel apprehensive and vulnerable doing it. When I made these recordings, I thought they’d remain private forever, so there’s a kind of retroactive voyeurism to all this. As we embark, you’ll be listening over my shoulder in my studio, in my car, even in the shower, as I try to turn fragments of music and lyrics into songs.

I hope that you find it enjoyable (or at least interesting) and I hope that it leads us both to a deeper connection and understanding as I continue to share music with you in the future.

Thank you for being part of this. I hope I see you soon.
